The new 2022-2023 academic year has started at the MIPT Higher School of Systems Engineering (HSE MIPT). The doors of the school were hospitably opened for senior students of the master’s educational program “Applied Systems Engineering”.
The “Introduction to Operations” course, led by Dmitry Gavrilov, a leading practitioner in the field of production and operational management, teaches students the basics of operational strategy, risk management and the basics of lean manufacturing. In the process of studying the course, students will have to perform many interesting tasks on developing a strategy for a particular enterprise.
The course “Organization of production and supply systems” is also taught by Dmitry Gavrilov, one of the first certified specialists in supply chain management in Russia, who has the status of APICS Master CPIM Instructor. In this course, undergraduates master the methods of production and procurement planning. The highlight of the course is the business game “The Fresh Connection”, with the help of which the guys practice production management tools in various situations.
Conducting useful master classes has become traditional in the educational process. The master class “Technology and Technology Management” by Aleksey Andreev, a graduate of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and now an adviser to the general designer for launch vehicles at JSC TsNIIMASH, gives an idea of how to influence technological processes to achieve the maximum product quality indicator.
The course “Project Manager’s Tools” under the guidance of Valery Gromov, Director of Practice at PIEMSI LLC, gives students a set of knowledge on using Microsoft ProjectProfessional tools in project management, which is very important for future managers. The guys appreciated the capabilities of Microsoft ProjectProfessional tools for analyzing projects, creating and customizing reports, resource planning and will continue to hone their skills by completing individual tasks.
Perhaps the most striking course of the fifth module was the course “Management of multifunctional teams, groups and enterprises” by Sergey Kazantsev, Vice President for Digitalization of Production at NLMK Group. During the training, the guys mastered the methods of interaction and leadership in multifunctional teams. The most memorable moment of the course was the “Bridge” task, in which it was necessary, divided into teams, to build a bridge capable of withstanding a radio-controlled car from improvised materials.
Master class “Employee performance management in the framework of operational management” by Natalia Lebedeva, Ph.D. the founder and CEO of KPG Training Center, a certified trainer of the International Academy of Trainers Assessment Center, introduced undergraduates to the tools for managing people in the face of uncertainty and change. During the interactive tasks, undergraduates were able to work out new knowledge to solve managerial problems and business cases.
A company visit is an excellent practice for getting to know progressive domestic enterprises from high-tech industries. During this visit, undergraduates visited Scientific and Production Enterprise MERA LLC, a well-known Russian developer and supplier of on-board measuring systems, control and measuring systems for industrial test benches. During the meeting, General Director of the enterprise Igor Potapov shared his experience in building a team based on the principles of “turquoise management”. The tour aroused genuine interest from the students.
A memorable event was an excursion to the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “NAMI” – the enterprise-developer of the car of the president “AURUS”. Students had the opportunity to get acquainted with the technology of manufacturing some parts and testing individual components of cars. The guys learned about the history of the establishment of the enterprise from the lips of the Deputy General Director, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Andrey Vladimirovich Keller, who spoke about the most interesting projects, including the project to develop vehicles designed to transport and accompany the first persons of the state. As part of the excursion, the participants visited an exhibition of cars developed by FSUE NAMI, the main exhibit of which was AURUS cars.
